• Our Team

The members of the Downtown Development Commission are people who live, work, and love downtown St. John’s. We are interested in the growth and prosperity of the area, and aim to ensure that it continues to be a central part of the city.

John McCarthy, Past Chair
John McCarthy was first elected to the DDC Board of Management in 2005. John took over the position of Chair in June 2009.

McCarthy is the owner of Benjamin’s Menswear in the Bowring Building.

Susan LeDrew, Chair
Susan joined the DDC in January 2007 and was appointed to Vice Chair in June 2009. In January 2012 Susan was appointed to the position of Chair making her the first woman Chair in the organizations history. Susan is a partner in the law firm Smyth, Woodland, Del Rizzo and LeDrew.

Kim Saunders, Vice Chair

Kim joined the Board in 2009 and was appointed to the position of Vice Chair in January 2012. Kim is the property manager for East Port Properties which include the Scotia Center and the newest Class A office building currently under construction at 315 Water Street.

David Marshall, Treasurer

David joined the board in 2010 and was recently appointed to the position of Treasurer. David is the Commerical Accounts Manager with the Bank of Montreal at 238 Water Street.
