SUMMARY:Opening Reception: "fill full feel full" & "A Meal With Friends" Art Exhibitions
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, May 23rd\, 2025 from 6-8pm for two opening receptions! We are excited to present Snack Witch Joni Cheung’s Main Gallery exhibition\, “fill full feel full\,” and Kathryn D’Agostino’s rOGUE Gallery exhibition\, “A Meal with Friends.” This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. \nMain Gallery – Snack Witch Joni Cheung: “fill full feel full” \n“fill full feel full” is a gathering of participatory and collaborative projects exploring how physical objects and digital platforms are adapted to meet the needs of diasporic communities.\nDuring a time of pandemic amnesia\, Snack Witch’s practice reflects on the ways communities can build\, nurture\, and sustain relationships over geographic\, temporal\, and sociocultural distances. Through installation\, video\, sound\, and printed ephemera\, Cheung brings together stories collected from the past\, future\, and present. In her attempts to navigate and mend their own physical\, emotional\, spiritual\, and ancestral recesses\, these projects simultaneously become love notes: Sent out to those within and outside of Eastern Edge\, in the hopes of finding others also seeking connection during strenuous times. \nrOGUE Gallery – Kathryn D’Agostino: “A Meal with Friends” \n“A Meal with Friends” is an invitation to gather together for conversations about community and sustainability. This interactive art piece encourages people to not just touch the art but to rearrange it and to sit with it and to sit with others.\nSitting in conversation with others around a table of food is a common experience and yet it is always changing\, reflecting the spiralling nature of simultaneously building community and self-identity. Food can be comfort and connection; it can also be divisive\, and it has intimate ties to ourselves and our communities.
