SUMMARY:Merry Wives of Windsor - Shakespeare by the Sea
DESCRIPTION:THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR by William Shakespeare\nDirected by Paul Rowe \nIn partnership with The ALT Hotel\, St. John’s.\nPerformed at the ALT Hotel\, 125 Water Street\, on their beautiful outdoor terrace. Special ticket prices for ALT Hotel guests – contact info@shakespearebytheseafestival.com for details. \nSir John Falstaff\, loveable rogue\, ex-military man\, and permanent resident of the ALT Hotel is entranced by a couple of ladies\, Alice Ford and Margaret Page\, who are attending a conference there. Despite the fact that these honourable women are accompanied by their husbands\, Sir John perceives an interest in himself and construes a plan for their seduction. Vanity\, thy name is Falstaff! Abetted by the hotel concierge\, Mistress Quickly\, Falstaff arranges two meetings with Alice Ford. But\, as it turns out\, he is a man being played more than playing. He becomes the unwilling victim of the jealous rages of Ford’s husband\, Frank. At the third meeting\, all hands join in the deception and revel at Sir John’s unmasking and public embarrassment.\nA Welsh Parson\, a Shallow Justice\, a Slender dupe\, a Simple Servant\, the lovely Anne Page and her guileless suitor Fenton\, two musically-inclined hotel employees\, and the imperturbable husband George Page\, make up the rest of the ensemble.\nLet the frolics begin! \nShows are weather permitting\, but will proceed in less than favourable conditions\, provided it is safe for performers and audience alike. Bring a comfortable chair or cushion\, a blanket\, picnic\, rain coat\, or sun hat as befits the ever changing NL weather! \nCAST\nChris Hibbs\, Megan Jones\, Sandra Mills\, Dave Walsh\, Chris Eustace\, Jean Graham\, Patrick Curtis\, Hope Greeley\, Sascha Adler\, David Hallett\, Melissa Ralph\, Oliver Hallett\, Krystal Lynn Hillier\, and Doug Boyce \nCREW\nAssistant Director: Brandon Cave\nStage Manager: Kelly Lewis\nProduction Assistant: Audrey Gerow\nCostume Designer: Emma Cole\nCostume Assistant: Jaimie Reynolds

SUMMARY:Mystery of Clock with Mark Fewer and Aiyun Huang
DESCRIPTION:Sound Arts Initiatives is thrilled to present this unique\, immersive\, and transformative multi-media performance combining lighting\, gesture\, audiovisual\, staging\, text\, violin\, and percussion\, in St. John’s for the first time at the historic Majestic Theatre. \nConceived for two exceptional musicians—Aiyun Huang\, percussionist\, and Mark Fewer\, violinist—the project examines how our clocks respond to one another\, to the passage of time\, to stress\, and to emotions. The two instruments embody distinct yet complementary temporalities\, symbolizing the diversity of human experiences.\nMystery of Clock combines design\, dramaturge\, musical composition\, text\, improvisation and performance to create a highly immersive musical and theatrical experience for the general audience. The musicians are story tellers\, human beings who traverse between quasi real-life and fictional states of being musicians\, intimate souls\, and fictional characters—creating imaginative musical tales that leave one wonders about the blurry lines between reality and fantasy. \nEach scene is an exploration of a key theme: memory\, stress\, love\, the irreversibility of time… The violin and percussion become mirrors of the human soul: fragile\, complex\, deeply connected. Through their musical dialogue\, they offer an artistic meditation on temporality\, love\, and what makes us beings in a perpetual quest for synchronization with the world. \nTickets on sale at https://majestictheatrehill.com – mark your calendars! You won’t want to miss this. \nWarning: this show features a ~2:30 minute sequence involving flashing lights.
