The Annual Downtown St. John’s Busker Festival is brought to you each year by the Downtown St. John’s Business Commission.
The Annual Downtown St. John’s Buskers Festival is a highly anticipated event for the whole family.
With three stages set within the downtown core, you’re welcome to move between each one to see a number of performances, which occur every hour from noon to 9 pm daily (last show starts at 8:00 pm and finishes at 9:00 pm).

Pogo Fred holds multiple Guinness World Records for his extreme pogo stunts and is regarded as one of the best jumpers on the planet. Check out his incredible tricks and flips as he jumps 10 feet (3 meters) in the air on his next generation and 10-foot tall pogo sticks.
Internationally renowned and motivationally captivating, Martika, the one woman stunt show, hails from Kansas City, MO- USA. Raised in a military family, Martika grew comfortable constantly moving about the globe from a young age. Learning from the best instructors the world of circus has to offer, this delightfully dangerous daredevil studied circus arts, fire, escapology, and a slew of sideshow skill sets before ever taking a stage. Twelve years under her belt she entertains with innovative stunts such as barbed wire hula hooping. All the while incorporating informative uplifting messages in her shows. Martika’s main message? No matter how terrifying a goal may be, it is achievable.
What is it about Mike Wood that makes him seem like such an ideal long-term partner? He can make you laugh until you snort. Is that it? He’s good with kids, your Mom loves him, and he builds things with his hands. Is that it? He can fold a fitted sheet solo, ride a bike that steers in reverse, and catch a catapulted cabbage on a spike on his head? Is THAT it? Or… does it all come down to his fabulous hair?
“Dance dance wherever you may be, and they do mean wherever! Cirque’letics school of circus arts invites you to join them for their vertical wall dance presentation on the side of Atlantic Place in Ayre’s Cove. They are a St. John’s based performance and acrobatic company comprised of amazing local talent. Be amazed as their dancers present a full choreographed performance on the side of an 8 story building.

Phase five of the Water Street Infrastructure project is now complete. As of 6 p.m. July 11, two-way traffic will resume on Prescott Street
Previous Update:
The final phase of the Water Street Infrastructure project, currently underway at Prescott Street and Job’s Cove, is scheduled to be completed by the second week of July. This is slightly behind the originally estimated June 30 completion date due to unforeseen underground infrastructure challenges.
Base course asphalt is scheduled to be in place Thursday, June 29 with most of the concrete work completed by Friday, June 30. Concrete work is weather dependent however the goal is to have as much complete as possible prior to July 1. Access will always be maintained, including full accessibly for wheelchair, strollers, etc.
The contractor will not be on site during the Canada Day long weekend. They will return to site July 4 to complete the remaining concrete, landscaping and road work, finishing with the surface course asphalt during the first and second weeks of July.
The road closure at Duckworth Street and Prescott Street will remain in place until the surface course asphalt is placed, with traffic able to proceed along Water Street to Harbour Drive. Current barricades on Water Street at Prescott Street will remain in place for the duration of the Pedestrian Mall. The final days of work are not expected to impact business access or the Pedestrian Mall.
All businesses are open within this area during construction.
The City apologizes for any inconvenience caused, appreciates the cooperation of the local business community and looks forward to finalizing this major project in the downtown core.
Underground infrastructure installation will be completed at the Waldegrave and Water Street intersection in the coming days, and underground work at Prescott Street and Job’s Cove is starting on Mon. May 8. A road closure at the Prescott Street and Duckworth Street intersection is required to facilitate this phase of work. Signage and flag persons will be in place.
Waldegrave Street will reopen to traffic on Mon. May 8, with some surface work ongoing, and minor delays expected. The intersection surface will be gravel until the asphalt plants are opened towards the end of May. Temporary Metrobus stops and routes remain in place and will be updated on the Metrobus website when they return to normal.
The final phase of the Water Street Infrastructure Improvement project that began on March 27, is progressing on schedule, with the underground infrastructure installation nearing completion at the Waldegrave Street intersection, and underground work scheduled to begin next week at the intersection of Prescott Street and Job’s Cove.
Waldegrave Street intersection
As weather permits, crews will be working to reinstate the road surface at the Waldegrave Street intersection during the coming weeks. Traffic lanes will be opened as the work progresses and the intersection controlled by flags persons. The intersection surface will be gravel until the asphalt plants are opened towards the end of May. A further announcement on the complete reopening of Waldegrave Street will be made as soon as it is safe to do so.
Temporary Metrobus stops and routes will remain in place until the Waldegrave Intersection it is fully reopened. Details for these temporary routes and stops are available on the Metrobus website.
Prescott Street/Job’s Cove Intersection
On Mon. May 1, work will begin in the intersection along Prescott Street/Job’s Cove just south of Water Street. Traffic will be maintained while this work is ongoing, and no detours will be required at this time. Lane reductions will be controlled by flag persons. An announcement will be made when detours are required for the Prescott Street intersection.
The city apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this construction project, which is scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2023.
