The Government of NL has announced the details of the Vaccination Passport or NLVaxPass.

By October 22, 2021, customers/guests must be fully vaccinated or have an approved medical exemption in order to access the following businesses, venues and settings:
Proof of vaccination is required for all individuals accessing these settings, including staff, students and volunteers. Note: people entering businesses and settings for work purposes have until December 1, 2021 to be fully vaccinated.
The businesses and organizations listed above are now required to check a person’s COVID-19 vaccination record for access to their venue or space. The requirements are made by the Chief Medical Officer of Health. NLVaxVerify is the official application that allows businesses to verify COVID-19 Vaccination Record QR Codes.
The goal of the Pedestrian Mall was to stimulate the downtown economy while providing businesses with expanded operating space. Based on feedback collected during public engagement for the 2020 mall, several changes were made to the event for 2021, including the addition of George Street, two sections of Duckworth Street, enhanced entertainment on weekends, and improvements to the parklet application process.

Following the public engagement process, a ‘What we Heard’ document will be produced and shared with stakeholder groups, the community, staff and Council later this fall. This document will help inform Council decisions about the future of the Pedestrian Mall.

The Downtown Pedestrian Mall event closed on Monday, September 6. Public engagement to collect online feedback from businesses, visitors, and non-visitors to the mall is open until September 30.
Note that on-street parklets are permitted to remain in place until October 31.

On-street interviews have concluded. Focus groups are being planned with business and stakeholder organizations and the City’s Inclusion Advisory Committee.
