Application Process for Businesses to Expand Outdoor Space
The City is accepting applications from business owners in the downtown and Churchill Square who are planning to build an outdoor parklet during summer 2021. An application is required for every business planning to build a parklet.
Parklet Application Information
Business owners planning to expand outdoor space are encouraged to start the application process as soon as possible. Please note that permit and application fees are waived for 2021 parklet season.
There are two checklists available to guide businesses through the parklet application process, based on location:
- Parklet checklist for privately owned land
- Parklet checklist for City owned land
For businesses located on privately owned land, the application process will take approximately 6 to 8 weeks, due to legislation. If you are located on privately owned land you are encouraged to review the checklist and begin the application process as soon as possible.
Once the footprint for the 2021 Pedestrian Mall is finalized, businesses in the road closure area of the mall have until May 31 to apply for their Parklet. This deadline will allow the City to identify vacant spaces inside the road closure area that may be available for other downtown businesses.
